Motorcycle maintenance

Tracking maintenance in practice

By · Updated

A tracker is only as good as the limits and readings you give it. For the intervals themselves, start with the motorcycle maintenance schedule and your owner's manual, which wins wherever the two differ.

Useful for

Riders replacing scattered notes, receipts, or memory with one dependable routine.

Available in Rydger

  • Free reminders and service records
  • Factory schedule suggestions: Pro

Enter both limits from your manual

Copy each job from your owner's manual with its date limit and its distance limit, and let the earlier one decide. Add the deadlines the manual leaves out, such as insurance renewal and the roadworthiness test. The maintenance schedule lists the general intervals with a source for each, if you need a starting point.

Keep the odometer reading current

Every distance reminder is worked out from the last reading you entered, so a stale reading makes each job look further away than it is. The Highway Code (GOV.UK, Annex 6) asks for weekly tyre pressure checks. Update the odometer at the same time and the habit costs nothing.

Record each job when it is done

Write down the date, the odometer reading, the work and what it cost, and keep the invoice with the entry. The finished job is what resets the next deadline, and the same record is what a buyer will ask to see.
